Emojis have taken over EVERYTHING!! I think they are cute, but I really don’t want anything extreme in the living room like an emoji clock or emoji throw pillow on my couch. However, I was looking for a fun way to incorporate these cute little guys into the house somewhere and thought these were simple and cute!
I also love succulents! I have seen them everywhere and wanted to get some for a long time but never really knew where to put them. I could get some fancy little planters matching the living room or I could put them into emoji pots!?! Of course! I put them on the kid’s bookshelf. Perfect! My husband kinda made fun at first, but whatever… They are staying!
You can find these terra cotta pots in lots of different sizes! First, I sprayed them with a brighter shade of yellow spray paint. This took 2 coats and it was raining so my paint was kind of sticky. 🙁 But fully dried after a little more time. Then I very lightly sprayed around the pot with a slightly deeper goldenrod shade because the emoji faces are different shades as well.
Then I started free handing their faces with a pencil first… I wish I would have tried to print off some faces to trace or stencil, but they turned out okay. I used regular craft paint for the eyes, sunglasses, and mouths.
After they were painted well enough and dried I added a gloss clear coat of spray paint and let that dry completely before I added potting soil and the succulents.
I’m so happy how they turned out! I think this way an easy way to add a splash of color and cheer to any place in the house! And they can easily be repainted when I’m ready for something different!
